We are learning to calculate the perimeter and area of shapes.
Our task:
Make two different shapes, using the unifix cubes, that have an area of:
24 cm squared
(Insert photos of your two different shapes)
What is the perimeter of each shape?
32 cm squared

What is the perimeter of each shape?
The perimeter is the area around the shape.
What have you learnt about the perimeter and area of shapes?
The area can be the same even if the shape changes it will still be the same but the perimeter will be different

Ants and the Grass hopper
The ants and the grasshopper
Find Specific Information
1. What bush creatures are included in the story? Wasps,
huhu grubs, grasshoppers, ants.
2. What did the grasshopper do during the first summer of the
story? Relax in the sun and play music and then the huhu
grubs invited him to a party
3. What services did the grasshopper provide the ants over
winter? He served them food and he fixed the roof when it was
leaking and he stayed awake when the ants were sleeping.
4. How did the huhu grubs pay the grasshopper? Food.

1.Why did the grasshopper decide to charge the huhu grubs
for making music for them? For their party. He wanted to earn
food and pay back the ants
2. Why did the ants sigh at the grasshopper? Because it was
so typical of a grasshopper to do this .
3. Why did the grasshopper ask the huhu grubs to give some
food to the ants? Because the ants saved his life and he
wanted to pay them back by giving them food for the
next winter.
4. What elements of fable did this story have? Animals that
behave like humans and make us learn a lesson.
Find the Moral = make hay while the sun shines= to prepare
when you can before the hard times come
Describe a character = Grasshopper
He plays music all summer and does not work and does not
collect food for winter.
Make inferences = the ants talk in sharp sentences because
there are a lot of them and because they are too busy.
